Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (Gaslight ACD)
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson
Summary: 100 word casefic

Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: July 12th 2017 prompt: A lost umbrella

Old Professor Neville was renowned for three things: His extreme old age, his ability at chess, and his obsessive compulsions. For example, he could not play chess unless he was in sight of his lucky umbrella. So when it went missing, Sherlock Holmes and I witnessed a tantrum worthy of a three-year old.

The four smirking scholars present at the time of the brolly’s disappearance were searched, as was the Great Hall from whence it had vanished. The windows too, were found secure.

‘When you eliminate the impossible…’ said Holmes eyeing the ceiling.

And there it hung amongst the rafters.

Wasn't that used in one SH series? When in doubt - look UP.

I know the one you mean (Holmes giving Watson the hint about the lamp-post so he can pull one on Lestrade).

But I think it was one of the b&w series (possibly the Ronald Howard one) where at some point Holmes tells Watson and Lestrade that the best way to find clues is to look up.
