A doctor living in Baker Street
Took care that his moustache was neat
But his hair grew quite long
So to the barber he’d gone
And now is presumed lost to The Fleet
‘I didn’t mean for you to see that, Mr Holmes,’ said Inspector Lestrade, clenched teeth, his face red with chagrin. ‘Junior constables these days have a surplus of wit and a deficit of respect. I’d have torn it down had I seen it.’
‘Gallows humour, Lestrade.’ replied Sherlock Holmes. ‘Perhaps the efforts of these men would be better spent inside the sewers instead of guarding the outfall.’

Supplementary Notes: Unapologetically appropriating
gardnerhill's brilliant plot thread from And the Vermin of the World Inhabit It to combine with my original from yesterday.
