Dearest S,
You do not wish to hear this but there are things that need to be said all the same.
Please forgive me for doing my duty. I do not do this lightly. I know that I owe nothing to the ghosts of my comrades. This new war is on an unprecedented scale and I fear for the men who would be my sons and grandsons.
Remember also that I did forgive you the Reichenbach incident.
You are the brother I should have had and it would be a tragedy for us to part in anger.
