Jul. 23rd, 2012 10:18 pmTitle: A Winter's Tail
Author:
capt_facepalm
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (Gaslight)
Characters: Dr John H. Watson, Sherlock Holmes
Summary: A fireside chat
Warnings: (fluff)
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: Although not explicitly about winter, this is a winter scene. Would it help to say it includes a cat? Those seeking a truly seasonal drabble of mine should follow this link. Thanks to
med_cat for the kick in the pants inspiration.
‘Nothing says contentment like a cat by a winter’s hearth,’ Sherlock Holmes gestured toward Mrs Hudson’s ginger tom.
Dr Watson’s blanched response was surprising.
‘It was because of such a cat that I became a doctor.’
‘No doubt, some sickly unfortunate stray?’
‘I was just a wee lad. The poor thing had been hurt in a fight but had not lost all of its fury… it saved some for me.’
‘But you still became a doctor—’
‘Fortunately, the kindly physician who bandaged my scratches assured me that I didn't have to become a veterinarian if I didn’t want to.’
