‘Watson, you see before you a simple cherry wood pipe, but what do you observe?'

‘It’s old and dusty—’

‘Yes, when you say it is old, I say it is no less than five years old. And as to its dustiness, it has been neglected for some time… perhaps several months.’

‘Yes, I see, but—’

‘Look, it has not been cleaned. Some residue remains. My microscope will come in handy tonight!’

‘But—’

‘These bite-marks indicate an impatient man who is unable to consider ideas of others.’

‘But Holmes, I’ve been trying to tell you. That’s your pipe!’

I snickered so hard. Somebody can't recognize their own lost pipe? (Of course, when he realized that it was his favorite kind of tobacco, he would have figured it out.)

I think Watson should have waited to hear what else Holmes deduced about himself:-)

Oh, oops! I take it buying and owning that pipe was a concept removed from Holmes's brain attic.

Also, Watson is a kinder individual than I am, I would have let him carry on deducing.

Well written! 100 word drabbles are a challenge all their own, and to get this humor and honesty out of one is quite a feat. I love it!

I feel it is my duty to wake your cat at least once a year!
Last July it was Something Completely Different!

Indeed he is!
Smart can become too focused and miss the big picture!

Thanks!
It would have been fun to let him run on longer, but I only had 100 words!

Maybe a case of you observe too much, and fail to see the obvious!
I'm glad you liked it!

Would he have figured it out?

...and, Watson, the blackguard whose pipe this is, had the unmitigated cheek of stealing my tobacco!!!

(I'm glad you enjoyed it!)

Alas for 100-word limits!

Thank you so much for your kind words!
Watson, would have found it amusing to let Holmes carry on, but he would have been embarrassed for him too.

Holmes' pipe disappeared beneath the cushions of the settee and he just started using another of his pipes. Out of sight; out of mind.
(Thanks!)
