Khandahar
April 1880

Dr John Watson, recently assigned to the 66th Foot Berkshires, woke wondering what the day would bring. There was a prankster loose amongst the officer class, and as the new boy, he was fair game.

‘Don’t let Lt Frazer get away with anything,’ his Surgeon-Major had ordered with well-founded suspicions. ‘He’s a lance in need of a boiling.’ Old cavalry pun, indeed.

In the mirror Watson found his inked-in moustache finally fading. His eyebrows were growing back. Nothing new had happened. Frazer had moved on. Finally!

Except, while dressing, Watson discovered that his boots had been nailed to the floorboards.

Poor eyebrowless John! His drawn on mustache was probably very dashing. :P

*Snickers quietly.* Only one thing to be done with a prankster. (In addition to sleeping lightly.)

LOL! Aww, this is darlinng! Reminds me of M*A*S*H, they had some great pranking episodes.

I think that Preston just doesn't have a sense of humor that matches Phils's, that's all. Poor guy :D

The drawn on moustache was certainly more dashing than the one he was able to grow at the time, at any rate! I picture Watson as a peach (fair-haired and more fuzz than beard) in his army days. Eyebrows and any facial hair he had would have bleached out in the Afghan sun. Frazer just wanted to help!

Watson can stand a micky-take. He was in sports, college, and the army. If he couldn't take a joke, he would have had a very hard time of it.

Retaliate.
When they never expect it.
(And, yes, sleep lightly!)

I loved M*A*S*H! (And I remember the pranks very well!)
Phils' sense of humour is more physical and Preston has a lot of responsibility so his sense of humour is not evident.
(Although when a doctor goes wrong, he is the first of pranksters... )
