Although his associate’s concern was immediately apparent, the renowned detective gave my situation little attention until I mentioned the unsavoury nature of the child I was to tend.
Six years old with a fully developed mean streak, young master Rucastle revelled in inflicting pain and suffering upon helpless creatures.
Sherlock Holmes fixated upon the boy’s nature and prompted me for details of the child's abhorrent behaviour, especially since he had progressed from insects to tormenting the cat.
So relieved was I when Mr Holmes consented to personally investigate, that I little cared that my safety was not his primary motivation.

Thank you! It was perfect.

Date: 2011-02-26 05:39 pm (UTC)Holmes showed a great deal of apprehension for Violet's situation in "The Copper Beeches", and even (for him) a great deal of concern for her as a client. I just wanted to pick up on the lesser detail of his fixation on the nascent psychopath.
