‘You are probably too young to understand this, but for what it’s worth, my policy in that area may require… adjustment. I used to believe that sentiment was a distraction, or even worse, a failing. Now I have come to realise that allowing oneself to care is a risk only the brave undertake; something I learned this from the bravest man I know.’
