.oOOo.

I returned home from my rounds to find Mrs Hudson in a row with a Frenchman who introduced himself as Henri the cheesemonger.

The impertinent fellow insisted on coming indoors along with his handcart stacked with assorted cheeses.

He removed his cap and wig and et voilà, there stood Mr Sherlock Holmes!

Apparently, the cheeses were just part of his clever disguise. His case was successfully concluded and these were his spoils.

There was too much for our small household so I gave the surplus to The Irregulars hoping that for once something nourishing would end up in their bellies.

Ha, ha! Holmes's powers of transformation border on the supernatural at times. It always amuses me when Watson and Mrs. Husdon don't recognize him. ;) That was very kind of Watson to donate the cheese to the Irregulars.

Nice job!

Very silly :) But what were Mrs. Hudson and Holmes arguing about?

The doctor sometimes does outdo the detective that way.

I like to think of the Irregulars getting that unexpected windfall. And Mrs Hudson's relief on getting rid of all that smally grocery.

Of course...a perfectly sensible explanation:-)

Delighted that irregulars have been fed:-)

Watson is more generous than I. I fear I would have taken all the cheese and spent many happy days eating grilled cheese sandwiches dipped in cheese fondue. ;-)

Most of the boys just bolt down the cheese ("won't kill me, therefore edible") - but little Frankie Cunningham traced down this experience as the one that inspired him to work for - and eventually run - his own restaurant, "Bon Fromage."

Thanks! I like silliness.
Mrs Hudson was arguing with a pushy cheese merchant who wanted to gain entry at 221 Baker Street. She did not realise it was Mr Holmes up to his old tricks.

I could not resist being a bit cheesy at the end.

That's a great idea and a happy ending for at least one of the Irregulars!

Mrs Hudson used as much as she could, which was more than she normally would, and Dr Watson gave the rest away. (There was really quite a lot, so everyone was happy.)

Yup! Just an illustration showing the kind of man Watson was.

Mrs Hudson: Doctor, please give away the Roquefort first.
Dr Watson: Gladly!

Thanks!
Mr Holmes' disguises are one of my favourite tropes to play with in my stories, and Watson is a man of compassion and would certainly try to help the less fortunate.

Watson's compassionate nature is one trope I do not mess around with.
