Author's Notes: July 21st prompt: Heat Rash
‘‘Do you recognise it? Good! That’s right; it contains oil of cloves. Very distinctive aroma, yes?’
‘Is your young Lazarus speaking, Mr Singh?’
‘Ah, Major-sahib, please see for yourself. Sometimes he understands and will mouth a reply.’
‘Well, his eyes are more alert. How does he respond to touch?’
‘He flinches but considering his wounds and his overall weakness...’
‘Still, a vast improvement. Carry on, Mr Singh. Today will be another scorcher. Use cold compresses as required and keep applying the salve. It would not do to have young Watson survive Ghazis and typhoid only to die of septic bedsores.’

Date: 2015-07-22 10:50 am (UTC)Yes, Mr Singh works as a mucker in the fever wards. The Major, who runs the infirmary, seems to value his insight (unlike the guy overseeing the fever wards).
The unnamed Major may or not have bushy caterpillar eyebrows...
