One of the many disappointments my family had in me was my lack of faith. From my earliest childhood observations I formed a world in which no deity took root. Science and rational thought replaced the need for a lofty Creator.
My fellow-lodger is reluctant to discuss religion. Events in his life have shaken his beliefs as well as his nerves, and yet he still looks to a higher power. Perhaps his is not the faith of The Church as much as that humanity’s grace is our ability to strive for goodness, kindness, and decency, in which he leads by example.
