‘Are you sure, Watson?’
‘Absolutely. Your sensibilities are positively feline when it comes to getting wet.’
‘I can wait, you know.’
‘I’ll be fine, Holmes. I have dry clothes in the cottage and if you were to stoke the fire, I should be right as rain.’
‘Ha! Hurry along, then. I’ll put the kettle on.’
Watson had made a promise, years ago in a faraway desert, to never begrudge the rain. He closed his eyes and raised his face to steady stream from the heavens, and smiled.
