‘Holmes, you better look at this,’ said Dr Watson as he pulled back the shroud.
‘Indeed! Too bad we did not see this earlier.’
‘What is it?’ asked Inspector Hopkins.
‘The blueness we attributed to cyanosis at the riverbank looks different under the mortuary lighting.’
‘It seemed reasonable at the time. That water was positively frigid.’
‘That’s true, Inspector, but take a closer look. Cyanosis does not affect fingernails or hair, and yet every bit of her is a light shade of purple.’
‘We can rule out accidental drowning. This girl was first killed, and dumped, in a dying vat.’
