‘Holmes, don’t you want to question those little girls, they must have seen the attacker flee. Perhaps they can provide a description.’
‘I had no luck. The fair sex is your department, as are infants and animals.’
The girls in question were about twelve years old and were wearing navy shawls emblazoned with their school’s crest. Sharp as any Irregular, they eventually provided a detailed description.
‘I don’t understand why they were so reluctant to talk to me in the first place, Watson.’
‘It’s probably because they freed themselves from their school’s genius tutelary. The three students had been skiving-off.
