‘‘What’s so amusing the today’s Times, Watson?’ asked Sherlock Holmes.

‘The American Exhibition is going to feature Buffalo Bill’s Wild West.’

‘Is this of particular interest to you?’

‘Of course it is. Didn’t you play Red Indians when you were a boy?’

‘No, but I am beginning to deduce that you did.’

‘Yes, my brother was the great chief and brave warrior, Bear Claw.’

‘And, who were you?’

‘I was Eagle Feather, the tribe’s medicine man... What’s so funny?’

‘Oh nothing.’

‘We had grand adventures! Surely, Holmes, you had an imagination as a child. What did you play at?’

‘Pirates.’

In1887 Buffalo Bill’s Wild West toured Britain for the Queen’s Jubilee. Sitting Bull was not with the show at this time, but others of the Sioux nations were.
