‘“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”’
‘That’s the one. It was in a slim anthology bound in blue leather.’
‘I’m sure it is around here somewhere, Holmes. Since when do you pay any attention to poetry?’
‘Come now, Doctor, you know my interests to be as varied as they are complex. Would you say that book was half an inch thick or three-quarters.’
‘Here it is. It’s just shy of half an inch.’
‘Splendid! Let’s see. Yes, perfect. That wobbly table was driving me to distraction.’
