Sherlock Holmes held the front door open for his fellow-lodger who was clearly having trouble managing the few steps. Their slow progress alerted their landlady, Mrs Hudson, to their arrival home.
‘Mr Holmes, is there anything I can do?’
The detective regarded Dr Watson with some concern.
‘I’m all right, Mrs Hudson. It’s been a long couple of days,’ said Dr Watson.
‘Some sustenance would be appreciated, Dear lady.’
Dear lady? Her gentlemen must be quite at the ends of their tethers.
‘It will be a while before supper. In the meantime, I will send up a nice hot tea.’
‘Mr Holmes, is there anything I can do?’
