Dr Watson was traversing Trafalgar Square when he was approached by a ghost from his past.
‘Doctor Watson, you must come.’
‘Murray? Good heavens, I thought you were lost in battle!’
‘There’s no time to explain. Lt Forsyth has been hurt.’
‘Here, in London?’ asked Watson. Forsyth was always in trouble.
‘He was set upon by thugs. Follow this road for two blocks; it’s the mews on the left.’
Watson ran, and found Forsyth behind a rubbish heap, the victim of a savage beating.
‘Thank goodness Murray found you,’ exclaimed Watson.
‘Doctor, Murray never left Afghanistan,’ the stricken man rasped.
