After great success in casting a new Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, your humble host, Capt_Facepalm, has been given the task of directing a Christmas Special for the BBC. Isn’t it grand to be able to direct Britain’s two most sought-after talents?

Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes, playing Ebenezer Scrooge:

Clothed in his mouse-coloured housecoat, and eyes half-lidded with ennui, Scrooge plodded to the door. There he met the spirit of his old partner, Jacob Marley. He looked the phantom through and through, and saw it standing before him; though he felt the chilling influence of its death-cold eyes; and marked the very texture of the folded kerchief bound about its head and chin, which wrapper he had not observed before; he was still incredulous, and fought his senses. Then he raised an eyebrow.

‘No ghosts need apply.’ He said, and slammed the door in Marley’s ghostly face.

Scrooge went on to live upon the Total Abstinence Principle ever afterwards; and it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed,

‘God bless Us, Every… Damn my leg! Oh no! I've ruined everything now!’
