‘Doctor, if you concentrate any harder, that scowl will become permanent.’

‘I will thank you to keep your criticisms to yourself.’

‘I’m sorry, Watson. This case is utterly frustrating. What were you pondering?’

‘It’s probably nothing, but I once saw a mural, cleverly painted to show relief. It made the room seem twice its size—’

‘—I don’t see how—’

‘—Could a photograph be manipulated in that manner?’

‘Not crime scene photographs. Not without elaborate staging, unless…’

‘—The photographer was in on it?’

‘My dear fellow! I can always rely on you for a fresh perspective!’

Me too! Holmes does not suffer fools gladly so Watson must have some degree of intelligence.

I too do like Watson when he sees something vital.

Me too! The reason we do not see more Watson-gets-it-right in canon is because he was humble and wanted to highlight the talents of his friend.

Yay! It is Watson's line of inquiry which steers Holmes towards a solution he had not yet considered.

Thanks! I see Holmes and Watson as a team. In this team, Watson pulls his own weight and Holmes acknowledges it. Their combined strengths make for a formidable force.

You've heard about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Cottingley Fairies?

Believe I can just remember that business. As long as there's been photography, there's been trick photography.

Thanks and nice icon!
However, when I hear the word 'pondering', my mind reverts to Pinky and the Brain.

I made it say Are you Pondering in hopes that someone would bring up Pinky and the Brain, yet no one ever has. Not that I'm calling either Bones or Spock Pinky but it looked like a good picture for one to ask the other that question ;)

Thanks! Watson can hold his own in the thinking department.
That he thinks differently than Holmes is a great benefit to their agency.

I always, always love it when Watson gets his moment. Especially this where a greater of appreciation of art gives him a hint as to the science. Well done.

Thanks! I too love the times that Watson gets it right. BBC-verse is better for it than canon, but I blame that on canon Watson's modesty when the time came to write up the adventure.
