Author's Notes: July 18th prompt: (five woe-related words that are not included in either of the Watson's Woes prompt tables)
Scotland Yard should have listened to them. Now Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson were caught in a deadly situation.
Watson was far more resilient than would be expected; however, his inexorable will to survive could only sustain him for so long.
Debilitated by previous blows, Holmes lay powerless as he watched the villains bludgeon his friend into submission. If he could speak, he would beg the ruffians to spare Watson their vengeance now that he was overcome and defenceless.
Alas, such words would be futile. They were beyond any hope of clemency and this gang of thugs was infamously ruthless.
