‘Hello, Dr Watson.’
Facing me was a rather rugged street tough, his bowler hat askew and gold tooth gleamed with his smile.
‘Shinwell Johnson’s my name,’ He eyed my raised walking stick. ‘I’m a friend of Mr Sherlock Holmes.’
Johnson’s name was familiar, but we had never met in person. Holmes found the scoundrel‘s unique acumen as indispensable as his fists.
‘Good day to you, Mr Johnson.’
‘This neighbourhood is bad for a gentleman’s health. Mr Holmes is worried about you.’
‘He needn’t be. I’m not looking for trouble.’
‘Maybe not, but in the Docklands, trouble is looking for you.’

Date: 2013-08-05 11:03 am (UTC)I'm glad you enjoyed this bit. Shinwell Johnson is intriguing is he not? I've wanted to write Watson's first meeting with him for a while. Expansion? Possibly in the future. Too many works in progress at the present.
