Dr Watson was furious!
My dear friend never spoke of the old medal which lay in the dusty drawer of his bureau, or by which means he had earned it. Some of his comrades certainly would have known. They all refused to enlighten me; it was Watson’s story to tell (or not). Colonel Hayter finally told me enough. From there I researched the rest, and in doing so, I learned the true meaning of valour.
Now I was to be fêted and celebrated? Because a trick of my mind had impressed an important Lady?
Of course I refused the knighthood.
.oOOo.

(Dude, the knighthood comes with a trip for two to Europe - take it, take it!)
