‘I will never understand modern art,’ I commented when I had seen enough of the fantastical objects.

‘Quiet please, Watson. I’m thinking. How could the burglar access such a secure gallery? Leaving would not be a problem. The museum’s doors are self-locking, and the gems would easily fit into pockets.’

Holmes gave an exasperated sigh and looked at the sculpture which had prompted my dismay. The placard revealed the artist’s name.

‘Vincenzo Spaldoni? Only he would be so bold!’ Holmes exclaimed.

The name sounded familiar.

‘Watson, you see a piano bisected by a tree, whereas I see a Trojan horse!’

I question the validity of some (many) of the modern installations I have seen. Then again, I am a complete philistine!

Now I am picturing an installation of a giant foot comprised of dice and poker chips.
