Wiggins senior was a sorry sight. Shaking with the desperate need of alcohol he implored Sherlock Holmes to find his missing boys.
‘Coppers say they'd run off, but not my boys. They said they wanted to stay wif me. We don’t got much but I keep a roof over their heads, an' bring home supper more often than not, an’ I never once laid a hand on ‘em.’
‘They wanted to stay? Who asked them to leave?’
‘Some holy roller was sniffing around offering education and a new life.’
‘Sounds like a modern pied piper to me,’ said Holmes, grimmly.
