‘Doctor Watson and I prevented the end of the world!’

Holmes arched an amused eyebrow. ‘How so, Wiggins?

‘Preacher said there are four evil horsemen—’

‘—of the Apocalypse—’

‘Huunh? Anyway, he wanted my dosh to pray for salvation but Doc Watson took it instead and added some shillings of his own. Then we bought as much bread as we could and gave it to those scrawny kids in Bucket Lane. Doc told me there wasn’t much one man can do about War, Pestilence, and Disease, but that feeding the poor is like kicking Famine in the bollocks.’

Thanks! I picture Watson as someone of modest means who would like to do more to help others and would also like to set an example for Wiggins.

GMTA. That's how I had Watson defeat Famine too!

Thanks! I picture Watson, with his experience of the world, as someone who no longer thinks the same way that most Victorian Londoners do and is less inclined to make distinctions based on race and class.

Famine apologises to his three brethren. "Sorry, chaps. Can't ride tonight. The Apocalypse will have to wait."
Thanks!

I think he'd be riding quite gingerly indeed after Watson's been at the bollocks-kicking. *grin*

Watson had to explain this in terms that Wiggins understood.
Thanks!
