‘You’re not truly considering this folly, are you Watson?’

‘Just imagine it, Holmes: The Northwest Passage! McClure is mounting a second expedition to find the lost Franklin ships—’

‘And, pray tell, what happened to his first?’

‘…it failed. His ship was iced-in and had to be abandoned.’

‘And what happened to Franklin’s expedition?’

‘Nobody knows for sure. It’s assumed they all perished. Some certainly did. There were journal entries found in stone cairns. But The Admiralty’s reward for finding the lost ships still stands, and Lady Franklin’s bequest will provide funding. All they need now is a Ship’s Surgeon.’
