‘Let me get this straight, Watson,’ said Holmes. ‘You saw me standing alone against the Limehouse Gang and you thought you could even the odds by entering the fray?’

‘I did not think I could even the odds; it was still five against two, but at least they would know they’d been in a fight.’

‘I think they got the message, old boy,’ Holmes surveyed the empty laneway. The thugs lay unconscious on the ground. He prodded the nearest one with his toe only to receive a groan in response.

‘You’re angry?’

‘Yes. I had not quite finished questioning them.’

Ah. One of the few scenes of the Russian Holmes that I remember. Yes! I did like their Watson. The Holmes I could take or leave.

There wasn't enough of the new series for me to develop an opinion. I did like their Watson and I may have come to like their Holmes as well. Apparently there was to be a character development arc for him. Poor Andrei Panin; he is missed.
