London’s high society gathered for a soirée.

‘And now,’ said Lord Fullham, the Gallery’s Master of Ceremonies for the evening, ‘To the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the grand unveiling and dedication of the mystery picture.’

He nodded to Lady Violet who drew the silk covering away with a flourish. The small audience of assembled dignitaries gasped in confusion. The picture frame was empty.

‘I now know why we were included in the invitations,’ said Dr Watson.

Sherlock Holmes, who normally found these events dull and uninspiring, rubbed his hands in anticipation and took out a large magnifying lens.

Snort! So it actually was a prompt - just not the one we thought.

I needed to get this one out the door early and had written this before I had seen the actual picture prompt. I think, in the end, it worked out for the best. It's one of my favourites this year.

It's just that I also think you could write a great story with the actual pic, perhaps at your leisure, and maybe even using the idea we discussed...;)
