'It's not rheumatoid arthritis, Holmes, it's ennui. Perhaps a concert will distract you.'
After the grand performance, issues of the evening newspapers were circulating. New higher taxes were coming despite the government's efforts to keep it secret. Society in general, specifically the poor, took to the streets. Radicals bombed a police station.
Although the City Brigade's response was rapid, fire spread quickly. To minimise the public's exposure to danger, zone one, immediately surrounding the blast, was cordoned-off.
'The government will fall,' Holmes predicted. 'They've lost the people's trust. A broken blade cannot be mended but must be forged anew.'
