‘Sorry Inspector, I’ve already drained the last of my flask, not that there was much to begin with.’
‘Damn. What I wouldn’t give for a hot cuppa,’ Lestrade replied through chattering teeth.
‘I’ve got some biscuits if you’re feeling peckish.’
‘Thanks, but I really need something warm. My feet are frozen and my hands are cold as ice,’ The Inspector regarded his companion. ‘How are you managing?’
‘The brandy helped numb the pain, and the cold has slowed the bleeding.’
‘Are you sure that filthy child will actually fetch Mr Holmes?’
‘Yes. I trust young Wiggins with my very life.’
