Holmes and I survived an encounter which would scar us for life.
A monster held all of London in fear leaving a trail of mutilated corpses in his wake.
Insanity can be explained but for me, shear malevolence defied reason.
That unfortunate girl’s body was just another thing that I never would un-see.
A light melody, almost a lullaby, etched lightly on unsteady strings cut through my melancholia. Holmes’ injuries, like my own, were not confined to his corporeal body. Pure evil leaves a scar on your soul. But by attempting that simple tune, Holmes was telling me he understood.
