‘Watson, how is it possible that a cricket has taken up residence in our flat? That noise is driving me to distraction!’ exclaimed Mr Sherlock Holmes.
‘Too much competition for your violin?’ I asked innocently.
Holmes shot daggers at me and rummaged around for some implement to silence the fellow permanently.
‘Some cultures consider crickets in the house to be lucky,’ I said, hoping to dissuade Holmes from his murderous intention.
‘They only say that because they have failed to kill the one that got in.’ Holmes found his revolver, considered it, and exasperated, put it back in its place.

Supplementary Notes: Considering today's prompt, those of you who know me will know how I struggled with NOT writing a cross-over called "What's up, Doc?" (You're welcome!)
