  July 19th writing prompt

Kensington
April 1894

Tigers cannot be seen until they move, their stripes blending perfectly with the tall grasses. London’s damp climate seeped unto the old hunter’s very essence. Murk and mist obscured his prey. He minded the cold, but not the challenge.

It was laughable how the grieving man made such easy prey.  If he were not the ideal stalking horse, a trigger’s pull… a bullet’s whisper… crimson spray… and Dr Watson’s misery would mercifully end.

Finally, the tiger twitched, showing his stripes through the bookseller’s disguise. The old Shikari could feel the familiar warmth returning to his cold heart, and he smiled.

.oOOo.

Oh, you evil writer!
( and I mean that in as loving a way as possible)
This . Awesome sauce tops it.
And um, thanks for not killing Watson.

Thanks! Glad you liked it!

For Moran, there really is no point in killing Watson. The Colonel is not sadistic, he just likes the thrill of the hunt, and the kill. He could take the doctor at any time since Watson is taking no precautions, but where would be the sport in that.

PS. I am not EVIL! It is a nasty rumour based on my choice of usericon, nothing more!

Perfectly chilling. *shiver* I think you've made me grateful Moran has no mercy in him.

Mercy is not in Moran's vocabulary, but he thinks it sounds vaguely French.

Thanks! It was hard to come up with a canon character who would be glad to finally see another without it being Holmes and Watson.

Eyes on the prize for Moran and fortunately(?) he's not aiming to bag Watson (first).
I like how you make the tiger hunter so cold and that it permeates the environment (and the overall fic)... Shivers!

There is nothing to be gained by killing Watson, nor would it be much sport, since Watson is just going through the motions. Besides, Moran figures Holmes will reveal himself to Watson someday!

The prompt called for the fog lifting with the joy of one who sees a long-lost love (or something fluffy like that). My fluff muse was in the shower when the prompt was issued.
