The old, with still so much to teach.
Some lay horribly broken... others left standing in a mocking parody of life.

All now just empty vessels, their spirits having flown.

Never had Bilbo imagined such wanton, indiscriminate destruction.
Not in his lifetime.
Not in his lands.
Not in his home.

How could thirteen dwarves, even with the help of a wizard, drink so many bottles of wine?

Hobbit angst is defined differently. Life is good if nothing hurts more than a plundered wine cellar. Thank goodness Bilbo was spared the horrors that Frodo experienced.
