‘Happy anniversary, Watson,’ muttered Holmes, as he renewed his efforts to break their bonds.

‘Has it been two years already?’ Watson grimaced as he steeled himself against the pain the movement caused. ‘My, how time flies!’

‘Less sarcasm, and more tension, if you please, Doctor.’

‘It’s not working. The ropes are too wet.’

‘Well, whose idea was it to get stabbed?’

‘Are you actually blaming me for that?'

‘No, certainly not. I knew the dangers and shouldn’t have involved you. Brace yourself. I’m going to try again.’

‘Wait, Holmes. I’m not ready. Just give me another minute... or two... ’

‘Watson, what are you doing? Watson? Answer me, damn you!’

‘The rope is wet. I’m trying... to stretch it... just a... little... further...   Aha!   There.   Is there enough slack now? Can you free yourself?’

‘Yes, and not a moment too soon. Someone’s coming!’

‘Help me up! Don’t leave me lying here!’

‘Steady, old man. I’ve got you. Good lord, you are bleeding!’

‘I can still fight. Just hand me that broomstick.’

‘Watson, in case this doesn’t work out, you need to know that I am sorry. You don't deserve this.’

‘Nonsense! The past two years have been grand, and who knows what next ones may bring!’
