‘Holmes, you shouldn’t have come back for me. I just slipped on the wet pavement.’
‘You fell.’
‘But you let Farleigh get away. What will you tell Lestrade?’
‘It was a bad fall, Doctor. You did not get up and that I had to see if you were all right.’
‘Wonderful. The inspector already thinks I impede your investigations. And this proves him right.’
‘Lestrade has never been right about anything before, and he certainly isn’t now. But, if makes any difference, I'll tell him I came back because you had the only umbrella.’
‘Now that, I’m sure, he’ll believe.’
