Title:  A Dubious Tale
Author: [info]capt_facepalm
Rating: PG
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (Gaslight)
Characters: Mr Sherlock Holmes, Dr John H. Watson
Summary: A prospective client's story
Warnings: (Author is a cheat)
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: July 2nd prompt: (Use at least two of the following words: abdicate, automaton, allele, Zarathustra, zither.)

Sherlock Holmes, attentive to Mr Porter’s story, turned to his fellow lodger. Watson was listening to the narrative with growing agitation. The war correspondent’s first-hand account of his Maiwand adventures was a riveting tale well told, yet Watson’s expression hardened like cold steel.

‘Thank you, Mr Porter. That will be all. I’ll let you know if I will take your case.’

The prospective client was barely out the door when Watson exclaimed:

‘He’s a fraud, Holmes! The Ghazis worshipped Allah, not Zarathrustra. In fact, they chanted “Allahu Akbar”, not “Allele Allele”. Anyone who was actually there would never forget it.’

.oOOo.

Thanks! I was desperate. Usually with this type of challenge I try to cram all the words in, and "Allele" was not a word in the time period I wished to write for. So, I had to think of something else.
