Characters: Dr John Watson (mentioned)

Warnings: (cliché)

Author's Notes: July 13th prompt: (When things can go wrong, they will.)

The boss told us it’d be easy. The way to stop the sleuthhound was to snatch his flunky, the cripple who helps him snoop around. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, plenty!

Apparently he was a soldier and still had some fight in him. Nobody told us he was a doctor. Knew how to hurt a fellow, he did— took down two of my guys and raised such a ruckus that we were spotted. Fortunately, it was only by some kids, and they scarpered.

He’s unconscious, finally. My nose is broken. My carpet, ruined.

How could things get any worse?

.oOOo.

I'll leave it to the reader to imagine the retribution.
(The glorious, glorious retribution!)

How could things get any worse?

Oh in so many ways one of them is called Sherlock Holmes if John hasn't finished with them.

I'll leave it with the reader to imagine the inevitable outcome, but of course Holmes will figure prominently.
:-D

Muhahahahaha, famous last words!

Ten to one those kids who scarpered were Irregulars, which means Sherlock Holmes plus Scotland Yard plus all the flunkies Mycroft is willing to loan out are on the way. And well deserved too!

You know my methods. Of course the kids were Irregulars!
When you only have 100 words to play with, nothing is there by accident. The poor narrator will have to deal with Holmes, Yarders, mysterious-Mycroftian-agents, and the Irregulars for this!

"How could things get any worse?"

Rule one: NEVER ask a question you don't want answered.

Actually, Rule One is: Do NOT mess with Sherlock Holmes, or anyone under his protection.

I will leave it up the reader to imagine how bad the outcome will be for the narrator. You just know it is going to hurt!

A surprise take on the prompt...and why is it I've a sneaky feeling that things are going to get much, MUCH worse for the narrator? ;)

Thank you! Of course Watson is not having a good day, but it is nothing compared to what kind of day the narrator is going to have!
