The boss told us it’d be easy. The way to stop the sleuthhound was to snatch his flunky, the cripple who helps him snoop around. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, plenty!

Apparently he was a soldier and still had some fight in him. Nobody told us he was a doctor. Knew how to hurt a fellow, he did— took down two of my guys and raised such a ruckus that we were spotted. Fortunately, it was only by some kids, and they scarpered.

He’s unconscious, finally. My nose is broken. My carpet, ruined.

How could things get any worse?

.oOOo.

Muhahahahaha, famous last words!

Ten to one those kids who scarpered were Irregulars, which means Sherlock Holmes plus Scotland Yard plus all the flunkies Mycroft is willing to loan out are on the way. And well deserved too!

You know my methods. Of course the kids were Irregulars!
When you only have 100 words to play with, nothing is there by accident. The poor narrator will have to deal with Holmes, Yarders, mysterious-Mycroftian-agents, and the Irregulars for this!
