Author:
capt_facepalm
Rating: PG
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes (Gaslight ACD)
Characters: Dr Watson, Sherlock Holmes
Summary: In which the words from the prompt are described, but not used. (Except one, because the author does not want to cheat)
Warnings: (cliché; as you can, no doubt, deduce from the title)
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: July 9th 2014 prompt: pratfall, spit-take, faceplant, head-smack, double-take, slip (Of course, only one of these words was in use during ACD's time)
Ice spotted the pavement and before I could remark upon it, I felt my foot slip and my leg lock at the knee. Desperately, I reached for my friend’s arm.
The result was an ungainly jumble of appendages and profanity.
Our clumsy efforts to extract ourselves had, no doubt, provided a chuckle or two for passers-by.
After several unsuccessful attempts, Holmes managed to regain his feet, and help me to mine.
‘My dear fellow, thank you for cushioning my fall,’ he said once he was satisfied that our injuries were confined to our prides.
His words relieved my embarrassment considerably.
