‘I shall not waste time with you. You're too inflexible, too disciplined once you've made up your mind. But Doctor Watson has a plenitude of human weaknesses, sentimental, soft. You may not tell me what I want to know, but he will.’
Moriarty would go through with his threat, of that I had no doubt. In him I saw the worst of me; the dispassionate thinking machine, the perfect reasoner. He would destroy anything or anyone who got in his way and never bat an eye.
He could see through me as well and he knew his threat was enough.
