For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to play Rugby, and in my university days in London, I had the opportunity to play for the renowned Blackheath club. When I returned from Afghanistan, my life was total upheaval. Finding suitable lodging, examining my dwindling employment prospects, and above all, my precarious health were my immediate concerns.

It was only after I found a fellow-lodger to share a flat on Baker Street and spent a winter in convalescence, that I came to the realisation that my life was forever changed. And that my new life would not include rugby.

Thanks! Poor Watson enjoyed all that was Rugby. First came his love for the game, then the physical joy of being active, then the camaraderie of his team, then the adulation of the spectators, and even the vulgar drinking songs.

Thanks! It is true that we outgrow many of our youthful pursuits, and it is a pity that Watson is prematurely precluded from something he really enjoyed. He'll survive however because (at least in my own head!canon) his other endeavours include billiards!
