The two men surveyed the flat they once shared. Although the rooms themselves had not changed much in that time, the city of London had transformed over the last twenty-four years.

Watson looked wistfully at the bullet holes forming the VR in the wall.

‘Really, Holmes, I cannot think of you living anywhere else and I cannot imagine London without you. You’re too young to be retiring.’

‘Alas, my friend. The years have been harder on me than you know.’

‘But Sussex?’

‘You are welcome to join me.’

‘I promise to someday, but I’m not ready to leave London yet.’
